First steps, first cleaning, and a few other cute pics

It was a big day for the McCreary girls. Ava is taking steps! Nathan and I have been working with her for a few weeks now. She would take one or two steps back and forth between us but this evening she took about ten steps back and forth between us. She repeated that about 20 times.

Sophie had her first teeth cleaning this morning. She did great-she sat calmly and opened her mouth at least for the hygienist, not so much the dentist. The hygienist just counted her teeth, polished them, and tried to floss them. She got her picture put on the wall for being cavity free!

Ava is already learning from Sophie. The other day at lunch I noticed her putting her hands together and trying to sing the blessing like Sophie does.

Sophie passed down the Buccaneer cheerleader outfit to Ava for Tampa Bay's opening game last Sunday (too bad it didn't bring them any luck seeing as they lost!)

One proud Daddy. These girls are going learn early about football. I know more about football than I ever thought I would know (which still isn't much) since I met Nathan.
I have hit a milestone of my own this football season- the first one I haven't cried when the season started. I used to get depressed knowing that football will be on our T.V. all day Saturday and Sunday and Monday and now Thursday nights. Now with two little ones I'm too busy to care!

First week of school and check-ups

It has been quite a busy week for us on top of getting back from our vacation in Destin. We had a great trip. The water was closed the first couple of days due to the tropical storm but after that the beach was beautiful, not even a wave in the ocean. I'll post pictures from our trip as soon I get them. My dad was so kind as to let us borrow his awesome camera and our pictures are on a different computer.

This week Sophie started back to preschool. She did great. She was just a little clingy on the first day but she has a good friend in her class this year from last year's class and that helped a lot. The second day of classes I dropped her off in the car pool line. It was my first experience with car pool. Last year I had to walk her in and pick her from her classroom everyday. Sophie wasn't too sure about a stranger getting her out of the car and walking her to the building but, she had a good week and loves school.

The girls also had their annual check-ups. Sophie climbed right on top of the exam table and let the doctor do all his exams. She weighs 31 pounds and is 38 inches tall.

Ava is 20 pounds 9 1/2 ounces and 30 1/2 inches. The funny thing to me is their head sizes which was only 1 inch different. Ava got two immunizations. She cried of course but felt fine after that. I am thankful I never even had to give her Tylenol. Ava is still not walking or crawling. She scoots around on her bottom and cruises very well though. She even climbs up the steps, on top of tables, and up the slide of their jump house. We are working with her everyday to help her with walking. I just pray soon she will have the confidence to let go of our hands.

Sophie had to find her name, by herself, on one of the red apples and put it one the window- so proud of her.
